Toad Houses

Toads are prized in the garden because they consume large quantities of garden pests. A single toad may consume over 15,000 insects each season! These beneficial amphibians seek cover during the day and a toad house is just the thing to entice them to stay.

Ceramic toad houses provide good cover. Open bottoms allow toads to dig them selves in. The solar toad houses are designed to lure flying insects in the evening when toads are feeding. Because toads need moisture (they drink through their skin) place the toad house near a pond or provide a water dish. For best results place in or near shrubs or other cover.

Amphibians are especially vulnerable to the harmful effects of pesticides. Consider organic gardening utilizing bats, birds, ladybugs, and toads to thwart those garden pests.
